Liverpool ready to expand scouting operation as revamp behind the scenes continues

The Reds are making several key appointments in their recruitment and loan management departments

Liverpool are set to expand their scouting network as part of ongoing structural changes behind the scenes.

The Reds are making several key appointments in their recruitment and loan management departments, aiming to attract top local, national, and international talent.

Matt Newberry has been promoted to Director of Global Talent after previously serving as the Academy’s Head of Recruitment at Kirkby.

To support this transition, Liverpool will recruit a new Head of Loan Management.

Additionally, two new roles – Loans Pathway Lead and Loans Performance Analyst – will be introduced to enhance the development of young players through strategic loan moves.

Loan spells have been pivotal for several first-team players, including Conor Bradley, Jarell Quansah, and Harvey Elliott.

This season, promising talents like Ben Doak (Middlesbrough) and Lewis Koumas (Stoke City) are gaining valuable experience in the Championship.

Liverpool are also bolstering their Academy setup with new hires in recruitment, analysis, and scouting.

Notably, eight Academy graduates – Curtis Jones, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher, Tyler Morton, Vitezslav Jaros, Trey Nyoni, Bradley, and Quansah – have featured for Arne Slot’s senior team this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s departure earlier this year triggered a comprehensive overhaul of Liverpool’s football operations.

The restructuring is led by Michael Edwards, who returned in March as Chief Executive of Football under Fenway Sports Group.

As part of the transition, long-serving Director of Scouting and Recruitment Dave Fallows will step down by the end of the year, with Richard Hughes now serving as the club’s Sporting Director.
