Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has been nominated for the 2024 FIFPRO Men’s World XI.
The 26 nominees for the prestigious annual team were announced earlier today, with the Reds and Netherlands centre-back one of seven defenders in the running for a spot in the final line-up.
The World XI is determined exclusively by the votes of professional players, with more than 28,000 votes cast for this edition, covering performances from August 21, 2023, to July 14, 2024.
The final team will be made up of a goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders, and three forwards, alongside the outfield player with the next-highest vote tally.
The announcement of the final team will take place on Monday, December 9.
