Liverpool turn down Besiktas loan approach for Federico Chiesa

Besiktas are among those seeking a winger and have approached Liverpool

Liverpool have reportedly made it clear they will not allow Federico Chiesa to leave on loan, despite interest from Besiktas.

With the transfer window in Turkey open until September 12, clubs in the Super Lig are still able to bring in reinforcements from abroad.

Besiktas are among those seeking a winger and have approached Liverpool, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on Saturday, Romano revealed: “I can also reveal to you that Besiktas called for Federico Chiesa.

“In the last 24 to 48 hours, they tried to understand his situation at Liverpool.

“But Liverpool are not letting Federico go on loan.

“At the moment, negotiations are not advanced. It’s not something concrete, but Besiktas made a call for Chiesa.”

Romano added that Besiktas are actively searching for a winger and are prepared to invest, though a deal for Chiesa remains unlikely.

A permanent offer at the right price could force Liverpool into a decision, one that would likely depend on the player’s own wishes.

Earlier in the summer, Chiesa appeared destined to leave Anfield, but no suitable bids arrived.

An injury to Diogo Jota also increased his importance in Arne Slot’s squad at that stage.

Still, competition for places is fierce. Chiesa has featured off the bench in all three of Liverpool’s opening Premier League matches, yet the club-record signing of Alexander Isak has limited his opportunities.

His omission from the Champions League squad underlined that he was only being used in attack until Liverpool secured their new No. 9.
