Liverpool value Cody Gakpo £70m amid Bayern Munich interest

Liverpool are believed to be open to offers for Cody Gakpo if a suitable bid arrives.

Claims that Cody Gakpo has told Liverpool he wants to leave this summer have been denied, though uncertainty remains over his future amid interest from several clubs.

Liverpool are believed to be open to offers for Cody Gakpo if a suitable bid arrives, following a mixed season in which he was often used as the first-choice left winger.

Dutch outlet SoccerNews reported that the 27-year-old had informed the club he was open to a move, with Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Bayern Munich linked.

However, both David Lynch and Ben Jacobs have stated that Gakpo has not communicated any desire to leave.

Even so, a summer exit has not been ruled out, with Liverpool reportedly viewing him as “not untouchable” and prepared to consider strong offers.

“Going into this summer window he will have a price on his head, Liverpool will be kind of open to the idea of making a sale – despite the fact that they’ve got so much to do,” Lynch said on YouTube.

“Let’s see if the offers come in and if the offers are big enough. If they are, Liverpool are happy to make a decision on that one.

“They’re not just outright saying that Cody Gakpo isn’t for sale.”

Liverpool’s valuation of Cody Gakpo would be influenced by the £70million deal that saw Anthony Gordon join Barcelona at the end of May, according to Ben Jacobs.

Cody Gakpo signed a long-term contract extension last year, keeping him at Liverpool until 2030. Now 27, that deal gives the club strong control over his valuation amid growing transfer interest.

Jacobs reports that clubs in Italy are monitoring Gakpo, while Bayern Munich, who previously explored a move for him, remain admirers.

The German club are also in the market for a left-sided forward, although their pursuit of 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha is unlikely to progress given Liverpool’s stance that he is not available.

Liverpool are said to have an informal valuation of around £70million for Gakpo, although there is a view that they could be flexible depending on the structure of any offer.

The benchmark for recent attacking deals remains relevant, with Liverpool having sold Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich for £65.6million last summer despite the Colombian having just two years left on his contract and being close to 29 at the time.
