Liverpool’s struggles on the pitch are being compounded by a growing injury crisis, with eight players currently sidelined through various fitness issues.
Arne Slot’s side have endured a difficult run of results, and his ability to maintain a consistent lineup has been hampered by the mounting number of absentees.
Curtis Jones was the latest to pick up a knock during the 3-2 defeat to Brentford, with the midfielder forced off 20 minutes from time after feeling a groin problem.
“He walked off instead of needing a lot of treatment, so we have to wait and see,” Slot explained after the game.
Meanwhile, Alexander Isak (groin) and Ryan Gravenberch (ankle) both missed the trip to the Gtech Community Stadium and are doubtful for the midweek Carabao Cup tie and possibly beyond.
Their returns are not expected until after the November international break.
Their absences could leave Slot without up to five first-team options against Crystal Palace on Wednesday, a situation made worse by Giovanni Leoni’s season-ending ACL injury.
Jayden Danns (hamstring) and Stefan Bajcetic (hamstring) also remain sidelined, with Danns potentially requiring surgery due to the severity of his muscle tear.
The injury situation limits Slot’s ability to rotate his squad against Oliver Glasner’s side at Anfield, meaning several regulars may have to play more minutes than planned.
With four games to come in the next 12 days before the final international break of 2025, Slot faces the difficult task of keeping his players fresh while attempting to restore confidence in his squad.
After just 13 games this season, Liverpool have already had 10 different players miss at least one match due to injury, just one fewer than the total number of injury absences across the entire 2024/25 campaign.
