Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim addresses Marcus Rashford’s future

The forward stirred controversy after telling journalist Henry Winter that he is "ready for a new challenge"

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has expressed concerns over the handling of Marcus Rashford’s recent public remarks about his future at Old Trafford.

The forward stirred controversy after telling journalist Henry Winter that he is “ready for a new challenge.”

As a result of these comments, Marcus Rashford has been excluded from United’s last three matchday squads, fuelling speculation about a potential exit.

Amorim, who initially addressed the issue when the interview surfaced, has now gone a step further, questioning the decision-making of those advising the player.

“It is a hard situation,” Amorim told Sky Sports.

“I understand that these players have a lot of people around them, making choices that are not the first idea from the player.

“I am always here to help Marcus as another player. I have to do what I have to do.

“They chose to do the interview as it is not just Marcus. I understand that.

“As a coach I focus on performance and the way you train.

“The rest, it is better for me and the club to deal with that when the time comes.

“At the moment I focus on improving Marcus and we need a talented guy like Marcus.

“I forget the interview now and see what I see on the pitch.”

The Man United academy product will be hoping to earn a place back in Amorim’s squad for their upcoming clash against struggling Wolves on December 26.

Even if he is included, he may still seek a January exit
