Manchester United hit by mice infestation at Old Trafford

The troubles of Manchester United both on and off the pitch, have deepened following reports of a mice infestation at Old Trafford.
Mike Keegan of The Daily Mail revealed that hygiene inspectors recently discovered mice droppings during a visit to the club’s grounds.
As a result, the club’s hygiene rating was downgraded to just two stars, a far cry from the five-star ratings enjoyed by other Premier League clubs.
The inspectors reportedly found evidence of mice in several areas, including ground-level corporate suites and a food kiosk on the concourse where fans are served.
United have been instructed to address the infestation and make necessary improvements as soon as possible.
Keegan also notes that the infestation may be partly due to Old Trafford’s location, situated between a canal and a railway line.
A club spokesperson said, “Manchester United implements a robust pest-control system throughout Old Trafford.”
“Multiple weekly checks are made in all catering areas and stringent measures are taken to ensure levels of hygiene and cleanliness are high wherever food is stored, prepared and served.”
“If incidences of this nature do occur at the stadium, immediate and appropriate action is taken.”
A spokesperson for Trafford Council remarked, “Our environmental health officers gave a food hygiene rating of two following a routine visit.”
“We are now working closely with Manchester United to ensure it complies with the rating and carries out the necessary improvements.”
