Manchester United received a significant injury boost as Rasmus Højlund and Mason Mount participated in training on Wednesday.
Højlund has yet to feature in the 2024/25 season after sustaining a hamstring injury during a pre-season friendly against Arsenal in July.
The Denmark international has been sidelined since then.
Mount, on the other hand, appeared in United’s opening two matches of the Premier League and the Community Shield clash with Manchester City.
However, he was forced to leave the field after 45 minutes against Brighton due to a hamstring issue and has since been absent.
This development is a positive sign for Erik ten Hag ahead of his team’s clash against Crystal Palace.
Managing his squad’s fitness will be crucial for the Dutch manager, especially after making eight changes in their recent match, yet still securing a 7-0 victory.
Ten Hag will be pleased to have more players available as he prepares for the upcoming fixtures.
“We have to rotate because we have loads of games and we have to manage the squad,” he told Sky Sports on Tuesday.
“You need everyone; you can’t talk about a starting 11 players.
“You have to give all the players in the squad game time if they are available.”
“We need all the players in the squad, we are in five leagues [competitions],” Ten Hag added.
“We want to win but there is internal competition.
“We have to find out what is the best team, what is the best chemistry and this is a moment for some players to prove a point.”
Leny Yoro, Tyrell Malacia, Victor Lindelof, and Luke Shaw are still sidelined due to injuries.
Ten Hag was non-committal about the recovery timeline for Shaw, the former Southampton defender, in his recent update.
“First, Luke Shaw, he’s progressing but not ready yet to be selected,” he said earlier this week.
“Of course, we have a plan in our head when he can be ready but you are always dependent on how the progress will go.
“You can’t think, you can’t make a suggestion [of a return date] because there are so many factors why a plan can accelerate or slow down.
