Marcus Rashford offers glowing verdict after Ruben Amorim’s first session in charge of Manchester United

The Portuguese tactician officially began his duties last week after joining from Sporting Lisbon

Marcus Rashford has delivered a glowing review following Ruben Amorim’s first training session as Manchester United manager.

The Portuguese tactician officially began his duties last week after joining from Sporting Lisbon.

However, with many players away on international duty, Amorim had a limited squad at his disposal.

On Monday, only 10 senior team members were available for the session at Carrington, with several academy players stepping in to bolster the numbers.

Despite the reduced squad, the session featured notable talent, including Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo, who is steadily progressing toward full fitness.

Among the participants were recent signing Leny Yoro, as well as Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez.

Yoro, who joined United from Lille during the summer transfer window, has yet to make his competitive debut for the club.

Marcus Rashford was clearly impressed by Amorim’s methods, taking to social media to share his enthusiasm for the training session led by the new boss.

“Top session today”, he posted.

Ruben Amorim is set to take charge of his first game as Manchester United manager this Sunday at Portman Road, where the Red Devils will face Ipswich Town.

The 39-year-old coach has built a reputation as one of the most promising young managers in European football.

During his tenure at Sporting, Amorim won two league titles and several domestic trophies, solidifying his status as a top-tier coach.

Renowned for his tactical acumen and innovative style of play, Amorim has expressed his intention to quickly instill his football philosophy within the team as a top priority.

He told the club’s website: “We know that we need time, but we have to win time. To win time is to win games. But the most important thing for me is identity. So since day one we will start with our identity.

“Of course we are going to prepare the games, but we will focus a lot in our game model.

“How to play, how to press, these small things, small details. You cannot go 100% on every detail because it will be confusing for the players. So if I have to say one thing, my main goal, my first goal, is identity.”
