Marcus Rashford sent home from Manchester United training

Rashford has been part of United since the age of seven but is reportedly eyeing an exit

Marcus Rashford was sent home from training at Manchester United just a day after being dropped for the Manchester derby, with the forward admitting he is considering a move away from Old Trafford.

Rashford has been part of Man United since the age of seven but is reportedly eyeing an exit following his omission from the matchday squad for the derby against Manchester City on Sunday.

New manager Ruben Amorim made the decision to leave both Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho out of the squad, citing concerns about their behaviour and attitude, as he aims to assert his authority as the club’s new boss.

The forward returned to Carrington for training on Monday morning, according to the Daily Mail, but was sent home after being assessed by a club doctor who determined he had a high temperature.

Rashford then spent Tuesday visiting his former primary school, where he distributed 420 Christmas presents to local children.

It was during this visit that Rashford shared with journalist Henry Winter that he is considering leaving Manchester United for a new challenge.

“For me, personally, I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” said Rashford.

“When I leave it’s going to be no hard feelings.

“You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United.

“That’s me. I will always be a Red.”

Rashford still has more than three years left on the £315,000-a-week contract he signed last year, and it remains uncertain whether any potential suitors will offer a deal that meets his demands.

Reports suggest that Manchester United would consider offers of around £40million for the England international, whose departure is increasingly viewed as necessary as manager Amorim begins to reshape the squad.

Explaining his decision to leave out Rashford and Garnacho for the Man City match, Amorim stated: “(It was) selection.

“We try to evaluate everything – training, performance, game performance, engagement with the teammates, push the teammates up.

“Everything is on the line when we analyse and try to choose the players, so it was my selection.

“Simple. I don’t want to send a message (to the dressing room with this).

“It’s simply an evaluation, and they know it.”
