Mason Mount could be ‘out for months’ after suffering leg injury

The 25-year-old was forced off the field just 14 minutes into the Manchester United's derby win over Manchester City

Mason Mount could be sidelined for several months after suffering a leg injury during Manchester United’s derby win over Manchester City.

The 25-year-old midfielder was forced off the field just 14 minutes into the match and appeared visibly upset as he made his way to the sidelines.

In the aftermath of his injury, Mount was described as being “really, really sad” in the dressing room, reflecting his frustration as he continues to battle fitness issues since his move to Old Trafford from Chelsea.

Unfortunately, it seems another lengthy absence is on the cards for Mount.

According to reports from talkSPORT, the Champions League winner may not return to action until March.

Man United manager Ruben Amorim had previously stated that Mount would be out for “several weeks,” but it now appears the recovery period will be even longer than initially anticipated.

“I don’t know the exact date, but it’s going to be for long. And that’s it, it’s part of football and you continue,” he said.

Ruben Amorim intends to support Mount through his recovery, helping the player adjust to his system.

“What I can do is to help Mase, to teach him how to play our game when he’s recovering,” he explained.

“To try to use that time for him to think about different things.

“I think the worst part is that we don’t have time to train like we should do, when you are recovering from a lot of injuries.

“With Mason Mount, we are going to help him.

“It is really hard for a player to be out for so long and is trying really hard, the same for me.

“If they try really hard, we will help them until the end.”
