Mohamed Salah has admitted he has not been satisfied with his season so far, despite helping Liverpool end their miserable Premier League run.
The champions avoided a fifth successive league defeat for the first time since 1953 with a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday evening.
Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time, pouncing on a mistake from Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, before Ryan Gravenberch added a deflected second shortly before the hour mark.
The Egyptian forward now has five goals this season, having ended a six-game goal drought with his strike in last weekend’s 3-2 defeat to Brentford.
The win lifted Liverpool back into the Premier League’s top four ahead of a crucial week that sees them host Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday, before a trip to title rivals Manchester City on Sunday, the final fixture before the international break.
And asked by TNT Sports after the win over Villa whether he was happy with his season, Salah said: “No, but I know football. I have played football for many years.
“I said at the beginning it is a very tricky season for us, we have a few new players, very good signings, but they need time to adapt to the team and we lost a few good players as well.
“We just need time to adapt and know each other’s games and we will be fine.”
He added: “It was very important, we have had a few losses in the Premier League and the Champions League, but I am glad we started coming back now and it is a good result before some very important games against Madrid and City.
“It was a very important win for us today.”
