Mohamed Salah named Liverpool’s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Month for third time

Salah finished ahead of Caoimhin Kelleher in second place, with Gakpo voted third

Mohamed Salah has been named Liverpool’s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Month for November, marking his third win of the season.

He was presented with the award at the AXA Training Centre after a stellar run of performances that helped the Reds build significant leads in both the Premier League and Champions League.

Salah started all five of Liverpool’s matches in November, scoring four goals – including a powerful match-winner against Brighton & Hove Albion, a decisive strike against Aston Villa, and a brace in the crucial 2-0 victory at Southampton.

In addition to his goalscoring contributions, Salah also provided three assists, including key passes for Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz in the 4-0 Champions League triumph over Bayer Leverkusen at Anfield.

In the Player of the Month poll conducted among supporters, Salah secured the top spot, with Caoimhin Kelleher finishing second and Gakpo coming in third.

“Of course [I’m happy], I know I’ve won it a few times before – but as long as the team are winning games, that’s the most important thing,” Mohamed Salah told Liverpoolfc.com.

“It’s great, especially as some of the goals made a difference for winning games, so that’s the most important thing. Overall, the performance of the team has been great, so hopefully we can continue like this.”

Asked if he is playing some of the best football of his career, he replied: “Probably yes, probably yes. The team together play good football, are controlling games.

“We understand each other more now. Last year, new players came into the team and now we understand each other more and, overall, I’m pleased with it.

“We have a good game plan and everybody is giving his best.

“We probably struggled a little bit at the end of last season, so we had a good break.

“We came back and we’ve started very well so hopefully we can continue like that.”

Liverpool are gearing up for an important Anfield showdown against Fulham this Saturday.

The Cottagers secured a 1-1 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League last weekend, but Mohamed Salah insists that the Reds must focus solely on their own performance as they aim to maintain their position at the top of the table.

He explained: “I think it’s necessary to just focus on ourselves because other teams will be trying to win their games. You play in the Premier League, so nothing is ever going to be easy.

“If you want to win the Premier League you have to win your games and see what [happens] with the rest. So, we need to focus on ourselves, make sure we win our games and the rest will follow.

“You’ve seen [Fulham] played really tough games against us last season and also in their last game against Arsenal they played a really good game. It will be tough, but hopefully we can win it.”
