Mohamed Salah praises Liverpool’s attacking play after Tottenham victory

Salah has risen to fourth place on Liverpool’s list of all-time top goalscorers

Mohamed Salah praised Liverpool’s attacking display following their thrilling 6-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.

Arne Slot’s side secured an impressive three points on the road in north London, extending their lead to four points at the top of the standings ahead of Christmas.

Salah was instrumental in the win, scoring twice and providing two assists.

He was joined on the scoresheet by Luis Diaz, who also bagged a brace, as well as goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai in a clinical performance in front of goal.

For Tottenham, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Dominic Solanke found the back of the net for Ange Postecoglou’s side, but Liverpool were largely in control throughout the match.

Salah told Sky Sports: “We were quite good in front but defensively I think we need to improve as a team – not just individual. [We] conceded three goals and it’s quite hard. Virgil, me and Ali spoke about that. It’s quite a good result and hopefully we just keep going.

“I think we expected the way they play just like they open the game and they enjoy the football.

“As you can see the game is really tough physically and also mentally you have to be always in the game. I’m glad we managed to win the game.

“They have the way they play. They don’t change it much. It’s quite intense and you can see [Manchester] City came here and struggled and some other teams came here and struggled.

“I’m really glad we managed to win the game because they really play a very intense game.

He added: “Of course it’s something great to achieve. It’s such a big club Liverpool.

“But again, the most important thing is we won the game, but to have that achievement is great.

“I don’t know how he scored that many goals to be fair.

“I think the football in that time was quite seven versus seven and not really 11 versus 11!

“He’s a great legend for the club and we have a good contact.

“Whatever I’m going to end my career with I’m happy about it, so let’s see.”
