PRESEC, Accra Academy to clash in ASF26 curtain-raiser as festival unveils family day and kids’ play zone

The curtain-raiser is set to open festivities at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The countdown to the 2026 All Star Festival has taken on fresh colour, with BAC group confirming that two of Ghana’s fiercest secondary school football rivals, Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC) and Accra Academy, will face off in the curtain-raiser fixture for the All Star Festival 2026 (ASF26).

The curtain-raiser is set to open festivities at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, giving the festival’s opening day an unmistakable flavour before the main attractions take centre stage.

Organised by The BAC Group, ASF26 returns for a new edition built around the theme “The ASF26 Experience,” with this year’s instalment expanding into a full two-day programme running from Friday, July 10 to Saturday, July 11, 2026, between 10:00am and 10:00pm each day.

The festival has steadily grown into one of the country’s marquee off-season events, and recent editions have drawn thousands of football enthusiasts to the University of Ghana Sports Complex.

The pairing is no accident. PRESEC and Accra Academy share one of Ghanaian schools’ football’s most enduring rivalries, a fixture that has long carried weight far beyond the touchline, drawing in alumni, current students and neutral football lovers whenever the two schools meet.

Beyond the curtain-raiser, this year’s ASF26 is being expanded into a community experience. There will be a massive convocation gathering vendors, businesses, creatives and sports stakeholders, alongside a dedicated play area designed to keep children entertained throughout the weekend.

The additions reflect a broader vision for the festival, which is being positioned as one of the country’s most football and business gatherings, designed not merely as an event to watch, but as an experience to live.

More than 10,000 football enthusiasts, business men and women will gather for the festival, with food vendors, fashion brands and creative enterprises forming part of a growing commercial village around the main event.

With both a kids’ zone and a convocation now part of the build-up, ASF26 is angling to position itself not just as a football fixture, but as a destination weekend for households across Accra and beyond, one where parents can enjoy top-tier football while children are kept engaged in a safe, supervised space nearby.

Media and Public Access

Interest in covering the festival has already begun to build with media accreditation open to professionals across categories, including print, television, radio, online media, and photography, ahead of this year’s event.

For the public, tickets remain accessible across both pricing tiers, keeping the festival within reach of families while still offering a premium VIP experience for those who want it.
