RB Leipzig would be open to selling Liverpool target Yan Diomande for £112m
Liverpool are among several clubs interested in the Ivory Coast winger and are prepared to offer up to £86m, although Leipzig are said to be demanding significantly more.
RB Leipzig are open to selling Yan Diomande for around £112m (€130m), according to Sky Sports News.
Liverpool are among several clubs interested in the Ivory Coast winger and are prepared to offer up to £86m, although Leipzig are said to be demanding significantly more in an effort to keep the 19-year-old for at least another season.
Paris Saint-Germain are among Liverpool’s strongest rivals for his signature, though Sky Germany reports there has been no formal offer from the French champions. Manchester City, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the situation.
An £86m move would break the Premier League record fee for a teenager, surpassing the £58.9m Manchester United agreed to pay for Leny Yoro in 2024.
Diomande’s rise has been rapid. Signed by Leipzig from Leganes last summer for £17.3m (€20m) after just six starts in Spain, he has quickly become one of Europe’s most sought-after young talents.
Only two years ago, the Ivorian was training at an athletic academy in Florida. He is now firmly established among the continent’s most in-demand footballers.
Yan Diomande told beIN Sports earlier this week that his future is likely to be resolved after the World Cup.
“Would I be open to the Premier League? I don’t know,” Yan Diomande said. “I am an RB Leipzig player, but why not? My agents will sort that out.
“As for me I am more focused on the World Cup, that’s the most important thing. It doesn’t happen all the time, it’s only every four years, so I am making the most of it and for the rest, we’ll see.”
Speaking earlier this week, Ivory Coast boss Emerse Fae played down speculation surrounding Diomande, joking: “When we were in France, during the preparation, journalists told me he was about to sign with PSG.
“Here (in the United States), they tell me he’s about to sign with Liverpool!
“I don’t know, but for now, he will focus on the World Cup, and then afterwards, he can think about the rest of his career.”
Diomande is set to feature again when Ivory Coast conclude their World Cup group-stage campaign against Curacao on Thursday.
