Ruben Amorim admits he could be sacked as Manchester United boss
Under his leadership, United have lost five of their first ten matches, raising concerns about his ability to turn the team’s fortunes around
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has acknowledged that his job could be at risk as he grapples with the club’s ongoing struggles.
Amorim, who joined the Red Devils from Sporting Lisbon for a £9.2million buyout fee, has faced a tough start to his tenure.
Under his leadership, Man United have lost five of their first ten matches, raising concerns about his ability to turn the team’s fortunes around.
Amorim’s appointment was met with high expectations, particularly after the club paid an additional £900,000 beyond his buyout clause to secure him mid-season.
However, the team has yet to fully adapt to Amorim’s methods, with results falling short of what was anticipated.
In a candid interview, the 39-year-old manager admitted that no one in his position at Manchester United can ever feel truly secure, given the immense pressures and high stakes involved.
“I know the business that I’m in,” said Ruben Amorim.
“The manager of Manchester United can never, no matter what, be comfortable.
“I know that if we don’t win, regardless, if they pay the buyout or not, I know that every manager is in danger.
“I like that because that is the job, so I understand the question.
“You can argue that I have been here one month and I’ve had four training (sessions), but we are not winning.
“That is the reality and I’m quite comfortable with that.”
“There’s no point talking about that or thinking about that. I’m here and have to focus on the job,” he added.
“It’s part of football to have these difficult moments.
“I already knew that was going to be tough.
“You expect to win more games, to have players with more confidence to sell the idea and to work and improve things.
“At this moment it’s really hard. We have to survive to have time and then to improve the team.”
