Saudi Pro League chiefs prepared to offer Mohamed Salah mega deal

Salah’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain, particularly after comments he made about being "more out than in" at Anfield

Mohamed Salah has been described as a “dream” signing for Saudi Pro League clubs next summer, with reports suggesting his transfer fee could surpass Cristiano Ronaldo’s if he makes the move.

Salah’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain, particularly after comments he made about being “more out than in” at Anfield.

His contract expires next summer, and as of now, no new offer has been presented.

Despite the uncertainty, Liverpool boss Arne Slot dismissed speculation over Salah’s departure, downplaying the player’s comments and reassuring that none of his squad members were distracted, even with three players heading into their final year on free transfers.

The 32-year-old has been pursued by Saudi clubs before, with Liverpool turning down a £150million offer from Al-Ittihad last summer.

According to the Daily Mail, there is expected to be renewed interest at the end of this season.

Saudi officials reportedly view a move for Salah as a “financially sensible” decision, with the possibility of him being offered one of the league’s most lucrative contracts, especially with his potential availability on a free transfer.

Currently, Ronaldo holds the record for the highest salary in the Saudi Pro League, with an annual deal worth around £177million.

However, Pro League officials are prepared to offer Salah a sum that could match or even exceed Ronaldo’s earnings.

In addition to his on-pitch talents, they believe Salah’s significant “marketing power” in the Arab world could drive “lucrative” returns for the league.

At 33 years old next summer, Salah’s time at Liverpool could be nearing its end.

With financial fair play restrictions limiting the club’s spending power, Liverpool might consider allowing Salah to leave for a Saudi club rather than committing to a substantial wage increase.

Mohamed Salah is already a Liverpool legend, sitting as the club’s fifth all-time top scorer with 223 goals in 368 appearances.

His contributions were instrumental in Liverpool’s 2019 Champions League triumph and their 2020 Premier League title victory.

However, his recent remarks about his future have cast doubt on whether he will extend his eight-year stay at Anfield.

“Well, we are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club,” he said. “I’m probably more out than in.

“You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this.

“But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future. I love the fans.

“The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.”
