According to Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero, Mohamed Salah has already agreed to a new contract with Liverpool.
The Egyptian’s current deal with the Reds, along with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, is set to expire at the end of this season.
Salah’s previous contract extension with Liverpool was signed in the summer of 2022, making him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.
This deal was initially worth £350,000 per week, with additional incentives based on performance.
With his current contract running out, the 32-year-old has made it clear that he wants to stay at Anfield.
However, should Salah fail to sign new terms before January 1, he will be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs, fuelling ongoing speculation about his future.
Aguero, however, has suggested that Salah has already signed a two-year extension to remain at Liverpool, though the official announcement has yet to be made.
This claim may raise some eyebrows, with many questioning Aguero’s insight into Salah’s contract situation and his authority on the matter.
Only time will tell whether the former Manchester City striker is correct or if Salah’s future at Anfield remains uncertain.
Salah has enjoyed an outstanding season under manager Arne Slot, registering 16 goals and 13 assists in just 23 appearances.
His performances have been key in helping Liverpool top both the Premier League and Champions League tables, while also securing qualification for the League Cup quarter-finals.
“So, I’ve read a little about this over the past few hours,” Aguero told Stake.com, as quoted by FourFourTwo.
“As I understand, Salah’s renewed his contract with Liverpool for two more seasons.
“I think this should clear all doubts about his future.
“He remains a key player and a fresh contract is the best news Liverpool could receive.”
