Liverpool have been handed a significant boost in their pursuit of Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo, with reports suggesting the Cherries have “reluctantly accepted” that a departure may be imminent.
The Reds are among several Premier League sides monitoring the 25-year-old, who has become a key figure in Andoni Iraola’s impressive Bournemouth setup.
According to The Athletic, the South Coast club believe they are increasingly powerless to prevent Semenyo from leaving as early as the January transfer window.
It is believed that Bournemouth would sanction a sale this winter if an interested club triggers his £65million release clause by a specific deadline, granting them time to secure a suitable replacement.
Sky Sports also report that Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, both of whom attempted to sign Semenyo during the summer, remain in the race alongside Liverpool as the window prepares to reopen on January 1.
Despite strong interest last summer, Antoine Semenyo signed a new five-year contract at the Vitality Stadium.
Liverpool are already very familiar with his threat, having been punished by the Ghana international during their dramatic opening-day victory over Bournemouth.
He scored twice as the Cherries overturned a two-goal deficit before Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah rescued the points for the visitors.
Capable of operating across the front three, Semenyo has been most effective from the right wing, where he has registered 11 goals in 36 appearances.
He is now just eight matches shy of reaching 100 Premier League outings, boasting an impressive return of 26 goals and 12 assists since joining from Bristol City in 2023.
Semenyo will not feature at the upcoming AFCON after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the tournament.
