Exclusive: Salah in Line for Brighton Clash Amid AFCON Departure

Crunch talks and fitness doubts leave Liverpool fans hopeful Salah will feature one last time before Morocco departure

Liverpool fans could see Mohamed Salah feature against Brighton & Hove Albion tomorrow, with sources indicating a 60% chance the Egyptian forward will play at Anfield before leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Head coach Arne Slot hinted at the uncertainty during Friday’s press conference: “Mo trained well this week, but we have to make the right call for the team and for him. There’s a conversation scheduled after training today, and we’ll decide together.”

Salah’s representative, Abbas Rami, held two hours of talks with Liverpool’s hierarchy on Thursday night, including Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes. The discussions reportedly focused on the Egyptian King’s fitness and his role in Saturday’s fixture. A club insider told reporters: “The priority is ensuring Mo is ready for AFCON, but he’s desperate to help the team before he goes.”

Alexander Isak’s fitness could influence the decision after the striker picked up a knock in the 1-0 win over Inter Milan at San Siro. “We’ll assess Alex today,” Slot confirmed. “If he’s not ready, that changes things,” Arne Slot told reporters.

Liverpool fans hope for the best on Salah

Whatever the outcome, tomorrow could mark Salah’s final Anfield appearance for weeks, a moment Liverpool fans will savour.

The stakes are high. Salah departs for Morocco after Saturday’s clash, leaving fans to wonder if this will be their last glimpse of the “Egyptian King” in Liverpool red for some time. Whatever decision emerges from today’s meeting, Anfield will be braced for an emotional afternoon as the club looks to maintain momentum in the Premier League.
