Liverpool bolster backroom staff under head coach Arne Slot

The latest appointment sees David Breen join from rugby union club Harlequins as Liverpool's new first-team rehabilitation physiotherapist

Liverpool have continued to strengthen their backroom staff under new head coach Arne Slot, with another significant addition on the horizon.

The Reds have been undergoing a comprehensive overhaul of their coaching and medical teams since Jurgen Klopp announced his departure at the start of the year.

The latest appointment sees David Breen join from rugby union club Harlequins as Liverpool’s new first-team rehabilitation physiotherapist.

Breen, a former Limerick hurler who won the All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship in 2016, brings a wealth of experience to the role.

The 39-year-old has also worked with the Republic of Ireland national team and has previously held positions at the academies of both Manchester City and Celtic.

His rugby union experience includes roles with Munster, Leinster, and Wasps.

Reports from the Netherlands have suggested that another change could be in store for Liverpool’s backroom staff, with former Feyenoord first-team analyst Roderick Van der Ham set to reunite with Arne Slot.

Van der Ham worked alongside the Liverpool boss at Feyenoord, and last week, he announced his departure from the Dutch club.

“Last week, my time at Feyenoord officially came to an end,” he said.

“A huge thank you to all my colleagues and players for the memories we made together at this fantastic club!

“With hopes of creating even more unforgettable memories, it’s time to move on!”
