Ex-Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham gives honest verdict on Arne Slot

Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham has expressed newfound confidence in Liverpool’s chances in the Premier League title race, despite initially having reservations.

Liverpool have made a remarkable start to their season under new manager Arne Slot, securing three wins from their first three games.

Fans are also encouraged by the Reds’ attractive style of play and their defensive solidity, with the team yet to concede a goal.

Although Sheringham had previously been doubtful about Liverpool’s title aspirations, he now believes they are firmly in contention, thanks to Slot’s swift adaptation to life at Anfield.

The Premier League winner praised the Dutch manager for his “clever” approach in taking over from Jurgen Klopp.

Slot was faced with the daunting task of succeeding Klopp after the German’s departure following nine successful years at Liverpool.

With a positive atmosphere surrounding Anfield, Sheringham has been impressed by the 45-year-old’s rhetoric and calm demeanor, which have resonated with Liverpool fans.

Speaking at the launch of Ladbrokes’ “Gaffer of All Accas,” Sheringham shared his insights and predictions for the ongoing title race.

“I think there’s three teams capable of winning the title this year. Man City, Arsenal and, while I was unsure about them, with the new manager coming in, I think Liverpool will be up there,” he said, before adding: “Arne Slot seems to have settled in very nicely.

“I loved his way of talking.”

Teddy Sheringham has expressed admiration for how Slot has handled the transition from an iconic figure like Klopp.

The German manager brought immense success to Liverpool, including a Premier League title and the Champions League.

However, the former West Ham forward believes that Liverpool fans will be thrilled with the club’s choice of successor.

He commends Slot for paying respectful homage to their former manager while bringing his own approach to the team.

“He mentioned Jurgen Klopp in a really clever way; he acknowledged that the fans loved Klopp, he said he loves him too, and he assured the supporters he wouldn’t be changing a lot,” he said.

“I bet they couldn’t believe their luck, when he said that. You know, he just dropped that line in beautifully, for me. I thought it was just fantastic, he’s handled the whole situation brilliantly.”
