Trent Alexander-Arnold could earn over £100m in potential Real Madrid move

With just six months remaining on his current contract, Alexander-Arnold is free to negotiate with foreign clubs

Trent Alexander-Arnold is at the centre of intense transfer speculation as Real Madrid and Liverpool vie for control of the 26-year-old’s future.

With just six months remaining on his current contract, Alexander-Arnold is free to negotiate with foreign clubs, and Real Madrid are reportedly making a strong push for his signature.

If the Liverpool right-back opts for a move to the Santiago Bernabéu, he stands to earn a financial package north of £100million.

While this figure falls short of the £192million deal Kylian Mbappé secured when he joined Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain last summer – which included a £128million signing-on bonus and £12.8million in annual wages – Alexander-Arnold would still rank among the world’s best-paid footballers.

Liverpool are facing mounting pressure as they risk losing one of their most prized assets without receiving a transfer fee.

Real Madrid’s growing confidence in securing Alexander-Arnold highlights the strategic advantage they hold, with reports suggesting the player’s camp is keen on the Spanish capital.

Jamie Carragher, the former Liverpool defender, has weighed in on the situation, warning Alexander-Arnold about the risks involved in leaving Anfield.

Carragher speculates that the player and his representatives may have encouraged Real Madrid to explore a January move to protect their interests should Liverpool fail to meet contract demands.

He said on social media: “The most important thing for @LFC in 2025 is winning the #PremierLeague No one’s contract or future should come in the way of that!

“I love Trent as a lad & a player, but his team would’ve told Real Madrid to bid & also would’ve known LFC would turn it down. It’s to try & cover themselves when he leaves for free.

“Again it’s something the club/fans don’t need with a huge game coming up.”
