Arne Slot has confirmed that Liverpool will look to add Federico Chiesa to their Champions League squad for the current group stage.
The Italian winger could be available for selection for the remainder of the Reds’ fixtures during this phase of the tournament.
Federico Chiesa was not initially included in Liverpool’s ‘List A’, but he could replace the injured Giovanni Leoni under a new UEFA regulation that allows changes in the event of a long-term absence.
“Yeah, we’ve looked into this,” Slot told his pre-match press conference on Friday.
“I cannot tell you exactly where that process is at the moment. That is not something I do myself, there are other people doing this.
“But if I’m informed correctly, if a player has a longer than two-month injury, you are able to replace him.
“That’s what they’ve told me and now we have to see if it’s true or not, but other people are looking into that.”
The Reds face Galatasaray away on Tuesday night in their next Champions League outing.
