Arne Slot expected to sign new Liverpool contract

Despite enduring the toughest run of results of his managerial career, Slot’s position at Anfield remains secure

Arne Slot is expected to sign a new Liverpool contract in the near future, with the Dutchman’s agent currently working on an extension to his existing deal.

Despite enduring the toughest run of results of his managerial career, Slot’s position at Anfield remains secure.

Having guided Liverpool to the Premier League title in his debut season, the 47-year-old has his side sitting second in the table amid a summer of major transition.

Liverpool are clearly committed to backing Slot for the long term, and that support is set to include a new contract.

According to The Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele, discussions over an extension to Slot’s initial three-year deal are underway, with the club in contact with his agent, Rafaela Pimenta.

The Dutch coach originally signed a contract running until 2028 upon his appointment last summer, reportedly worth a basic salary of €8million per year, according to De Telegraaf.

Given his success so far, that figure is expected to rise significantly, with the former Feyenoord boss now regarded as one of the best managers in world football.

Having already resolved the contract situations of Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah at the end of last season, and after overseeing the club’s biggest-ever single-window spend, it comes as no surprise that Liverpool’s next focus is Arne Slot.

Talks are also ongoing with the representatives of Ibrahima Konaté, while a decision will soon be made regarding Andy Robertson, with both players’ current deals set to expire in 2026.

With the squad otherwise in a stable position, tying down only their second-ever Premier League-winning manager has become a clear priority for Liverpool.
