Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley return to training ahead of Liverpool vs Manchester United

Liverpool have received a potential injury boost as manager Arne Slot confirmed that Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley are set to return to training on Friday.

This development comes just in time for the Reds’ highly anticipated clash with Manchester United.

Konate and Conor Bradley have been sidelined since late November after sustaining knee and hamstring injuries, respectively, during Liverpool’s encounter with Real Madrid.

Their absence has left the Dutch manager short of defensive options throughout December.

While Kostas Tsimikas made his return from an ankle injury before Christmas, Liverpool suffered another setback as Joe Gomez picked up a hamstring injury during their final game of 2024 against West Ham United.

Slot revealed that Gomez is expected to be out for several weeks.

However, the potential availability of Konate and Bradley provides a much-needed boost to Liverpool’s defensive ranks as they prepare to face their fierce rivals.

Slot remains optimistic about the pair’s chances of featuring in the crucial Premier League fixture.

“Joe is of course not in a good place when it comes to his injury, he is out for a few weeks, that is for sure,” he said. “Conor and Ibou will train with us today for the first time.

“Curious and interested to see where exactly they are. They have worked hard to come back to the team but the next step is always how do you handle team sessions. They will train with us today, the two of them.”

Slot added: “Of course they still have to come in but we trained yesterday and I assume everybody is fit.

“Though we are in a period of time where people get sick as well. Nothing heard about that yet.

“So hopefully everybody is ready to be part of the game on Sunday, except for Joe Gomez.”
