Liverpool forward joins Birmingham City on loan for 2025-26

Koumas – who is comfortable on either flank – spent last season with Stoke City

Birmingham City have completed the signing of winger Lewis Koumas on a season-long loan, subject to clearance.

The 19-year-old joins Blues from Premier League side Liverpool for the duration of the 2025-26 campaign.

Koumas – who is comfortable on either flank – spent last season with Stoke City, making 49 appearances in all competitions and contributing six goals and three assists.

A product of Liverpool’s academy, Koumas signed his first professional contract with the club in January 2023 and was part of the squad that lifted the Carabao Cup at Wembley in 2024 following a victory over Chelsea.

He made his senior debut for the Reds in an FA Cup fifth-round tie against Southampton in February 2024, marking the occasion with a goal in a 3-0 win.

On the international stage, Koumas represented Wales at Under-19 and Under-21 level before earning his senior debut in May 2024.

The winger has since made six appearances for his country.

“I’m really excited about it [the move] and looking forward to getting going,” said Koumas.

“There was lots of interest but just how big of a club this is, how passionate the fans are, the project that I’ve heard about and after speaking to the gaffer, there was no other way about it – I was coming to Birmingham.

“I want to be wanted by a manager and I know he knows a lot about me. It’s always about developing and wanting to get better but I’m also here to come and prove what I can do, score goals and get assists.”
