A breakthrough has been reached in negotiations between Bayern Munich and Liverpool, with Luis Diaz’s move to the Bundesliga champions now considered a done deal, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.
An agreement in principle has been reached following Bayern’s improved bid, with the total transfer fee understood to be worth up to €75million.
Diaz is set to sign a contract that will run until at least 2029.
Final details are currently being finalised, with the Colombian winger expected to undergo a medical next week.
Diaz joined Liverpool in January 2022 for a guaranteed £37.5million, signing a 5.5-year contract.
With two years remaining on his deal and at 28 years old, this potential transfer would represent good business for Liverpool’s hierarchy.
On Saturday, manager Arne Slot confirmed that Diaz missed the Reds’ pre-season friendly defeat to AC Milan due to ongoing transfer speculation.
“He’s training really well with us,” Slot said, “but we’ve decided, for now, not to play him yet.
“I’m used to talking to most of my players on a regular basis, like I said, Lucho is training really well and we’ve decided he’s not playing at the moment. I cannot comment much more about that.”
