Liverpool set two Premier League records as they secured a 2-0 victory over Brentford at Anfield.
In Arne Slot’s first competitive home game in charge, the Reds delivered a dominant performance, with goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah.
This game may provide some insight into what to expect under the Dutchman’s management.
Slot’s side set a new record for the highest number of accurate passes, completing 551 out of 602 attempted, achieving a pass accuracy of 92%.
This is the highest pass accuracy recorded for a Liverpool team since Opta began tracking stats in the 2003/04 season.
This performance underscores the level of control Slot aims to implement, as he discussed in an interview with Jamie Carragher for Sky Sports before Sunday’s match.
He said: “Sometimes I tell the players to get a better judgement in risk and reward.
“So if you can put some balls in front of the goalkeeper, please try and do so if not, it’s also a good idea to keep the ball.”
However, Liverpool broke another record as they set a new club attendance record against Brentford.
A total of 60,107 fans attended the match at Anfield, surpassing the previous record of 60,090 set against Crystal Palace last April.
The installation of new seats in the lower Anfield Road End contributed to accommodating an additional 17 supporters.
