Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have reportedly made a formal approach to sign Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, offering the Egyptian superstar a three-year contract.
Salah’s current deal at Anfield expires in six months, allowing him to negotiate a free transfer with other clubs.
The Premier League’s top scorer has expressed frustration over the lack of progress in contract renewal talks with Liverpool, opening the door for PSG to make their move.
According to French journalist Romain Collet Gaudin, the Ligue 1 champions have tabled a lucrative offer, including a €500,000-per-week salary, as they look to make Salah their first marquee signing since Kylian Mbappé’s departure to Real Madrid last summer.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are reportedly offering Salah a two-year contract extension with a proposed wage increase of €400,000 per week – substantially lower than PSG’s offer.
If the Reds wish to retain their talisman, they may need to significantly improve their proposal.
At 32, Salah remains one of world football’s most consistent attackers and would undoubtedly be a major acquisition for PSG as they seek to bolster their squad.
For Liverpool, losing Salah would represent a significant blow, both on and off the pitch, as he continues to be a key figure under Arne Slot’s leadership.
Salah is expected to feature in Liverpool’s crucial Premier League showdown against Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday, where his future will surely be a topic of conversation among fans and pundits alike.
