The PGMOL have begun investigations into a viral video on social media capturing Premier League referee David Coote allegedly making derogatory comments about Liverpool and their former manager Jurgen Klopp.#

According to the Liverpool Echo, The Professional Game Match Officials Limited ( PGMOL ) is investigating a video circulating online that appears to show an expletive-laden rant from Premier League referee David Coote against Liverpool and former manager Jurgen Klopp.

“The footage emerged on social media on Monday. In the clip, Coote appears to call Liverpool ‘s**t’ and Klopp a ‘c**t’.” The media outlet reported.

According to Sky Sports, the Manchester-born referee has been suspended with immediate effect.

A statement on their social media platform X (formerly Twitter) read,

“The PGMOL have confirmed in a statement that referee David Coote has been suspended after a video circulated on social media today.”

An official statement from the PGMOL read: “David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full investigation. PGMOL will be making no further comment until that process is complete.”

David Coote was the match referee for the Premier League match between Liverpool and Aston Villa on Saturday night which the hosts won 2-0.

This news has raised questions about some of Coote’s decisions when officiating Liverpool matches, with another controversial incident happening moments before Liverpool took the lead through Darwin Nunez after Mohamed Salah appeared to have been hauled down by last man Leon Bailey.
