Luis Diaz requests Liverpool exit as Bayern Munich prepare new offer

The Colombian winger is said to have asked Liverpool to accept Bayern's proposal

Luis Diaz is reportedly seeking to leave Liverpool this summer, with Bayern Munich expected to submit a fresh offer.

The Colombian winger is said to have asked Liverpool to accept the proposal.

This summer, Diaz has already attracted interest from both Bayern and Barcelona, but Liverpool have been firm that their forward is not for sale.

However, with the 28-year-old making it clear he wants to explore other financial opportunities, the club’s stance appears to be shifting.

According to a report from BILD, Liverpool are now “willing to negotiate” as Bayern prepare a new bid.

After having an initial offer of €67million (£58million) rejected earlier this month, Bayern are reportedly ready to increase their offer to €75million (£65million).

Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra – considered a reliable source on Diaz – shared on X that the forward has “requested that Liverpool, if they are not going to renew his contract (as promised in May), accept the offer.”

Sierra added: “The Colombian winger wants to improve his conditions and seize the opportunity with the German team.”

While Bayern’s new offer falls just short of the €80million fee reported in Spain as part of a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ between Diaz and Liverpool, it would still represent a substantial profit for the club.

Liverpool would recoup the £50 million they paid to Porto in 2022, with additional funds helping to boost the club’s finances and meet the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Regulations (PSR).

That said, Liverpool will need to weigh the financial benefits against the potential loss of a key attacking player.

Diaz featured in 50 games last season, starting 38 times, logging the seventh-highest minutes in the squad, and contributing 17 goals and five assists.

With Diogo Jota’s passing and the likely departures of Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa, letting go of their primary No. 9 from last season could be a risky gamble for Arne Slot’s side.
