Pep Guardiola has expressed caution ahead of Manchester City’s Boxing Day clash against Everton, as the defending champions look to end their worst slump in the Guardiola era.
Man City have managed just one win in their last 12 matches across all competitions, a sharp decline that began with a Carabao Cup loss to Tottenham Hotspur on October 30.
This poor run of form has seen Man City drop to seventh place in the Premier League, 12 points behind league leaders Liverpool.
With their title defense faltering, Guardiola’s side will be desperate to regain momentum.
Their next challenge comes against an Everton team that has proven difficult to break down, holding Arsenal and Chelsea to goalless draws in their last two league outings.
Pep Guardiola admitted his concern about facing the Toffees but shared his belief that City can overcome the challenge with a strong performance.
Following the Boxing Day fixture at the Etihad Stadium, Man City will close out 2024 with a trip to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City on December 29.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Man City boss said: “They are not the perfect opponent.
“It is about us to come back to our best. It will take time.
“We have to get results as quickly as possible.
“We are facing Everton and they are in a good moment, their results and performances show it.”
