Manchester City are evaluating a potential move for Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi as they seek to bolster their attacking options, according to The Athletic.
City are looking to replace Julián Álvarez, who recently completed an £82 million ($107 million) transfer to Atlético Madrid.
The club’s focus is on signing a forward who is willing to accept a squad role at the Etihad Stadium.
Among their top choices are 29-year-old Kyogo Furuhashi and a younger forward, as Man City narrow down their options.
Currently, the club is prioritising the re-signing of Ilkay Gündogan and plans to finalise that deal before fully turning its attention to signing a striker.
Once Gündogan’s future is secured, City will assess whether to proceed with their pursuit of Kyogo or an alternative forward.
Kyogo has impressed the City scouting team, and personal terms are unlikely to be an obstacle if he becomes their final choice.
The Japan international is reportedly eager to make the move to Manchester City.
Kyogo joined Celtic under former boss Ange Postecoglou, who has a strong connection to the City Football Group through his previous role as manager of Yokohama F. Marinos.
The forward missed Celtic’s recent Scottish League Cup tie against Hibernian due to a shoulder injury but remains a key player for the club.
Since joining Celtic in 2021, Kyogo has scored 73 goals in 135 appearances, showcasing his prolific form.
