Manchester United enter advanced negotiations with Amad’s representatives over new contract

Manchester United have entered advanced negotiations with Amad’s representatives over a new contract, with the 22-year-old nearing the final six months of his current deal.
Although United have the option to trigger a one-year extension on his current terms, club officials believe Amad, who has impressed since joining the team, deserves a more lucrative long-term contract.
The Ivory Coast international has made a name for himself in key moments, scoring the winning goal in last season’s dramatic 4-3 FA Cup victory over Liverpool.
Amad was the hero once again in Sunday’s Manchester derby, winning a penalty that led to Bruno Fernandes’ 88th-minute equaliser before netting the winner just two minutes later, handing Ruben Amorim his first derby win as United’s manager.
Amad has played both as a wing-back and a forward under Amorim, impressing the new manager with his consistently high-level performances.
These displays have caught the attention of Old Trafford chiefs, with ESPN reporting that only minor details remain to be ironed out in the ongoing negotiations.
Talks have been ongoing for weeks, and United are aiming to finalize the deal before January 1, when Amad would be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club.
Though Amad hadn’t scored under Amorim prior to his Manchester City heroics, he had provided four assists in the six previous games.
Amorim has credited his predecessor, Erik ten Hag, for playing a key role in Amad’s development, saying: “He’s so good, so humble.
“But let’s stay calm with Amad, keep calm. It was the work with Erik and then Ruud [van Nistelrooy] did a great job and we have continued that.
“He can play both positions but this position in this type of game and his ability to run with the ball is really important. But all the players fit in my system.
“If they want and they are talented, every player in our squad can fit this system.”
