Marcus Rashford absent again ahead of Man Utd Carabao Cup tie against Tottenham
Man United will face Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham on Thursday
Alejandro Garnacho has been recalled to Manchester United’s squad for their Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham in London, but Marcus Rashford was once again absent.
Garnacho was left out of the squad for last weekend’s derby win over Manchester City, but he travelled with the team to the capital for Thursday’s clash with Spurs.
However, there was no sign of Rashford, who appears set to miss out again following his recent comments expressing a desire to leave Old Trafford.
United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, had previously stated that both players would have another opportunity to return to the squad after being omitted for the 2-1 win against City.
While Garnacho seems to have done enough to earn a recall, Rashford’s interview with Henry Winter, where he admitted to being “ready for a new challenge,” suggests his absence may continue.
For Amorim, the Carabao Cup presents a strong chance to secure silverware in his first season at the club.
Man United will face Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham on Thursday, following an impressive 5-0 win over Leicester City in the fourth round.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the confirmed United squad members for the trip to Spurs are as follows: Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton, Diogo Dalot, Noussair Mazraoui, Lenny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Manuel Ugarte, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen, Kobbie Mainoo, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Joshua Zirkzee, Rasmus Hojlund, Amad Diallo
