Real Madrid join Man City and Liverpool in transfer race to sign Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi
Zubimendi has garnered widespread interest following his impressive performances
Real Madrid have entered the race to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, joining Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester City in pursuit of the highly-rated Spaniard.
Zubimendi has garnered widespread interest following his impressive performances, including a pivotal role in Spain’s European Championship triumph.
Liverpool were heavily linked with the midfielder late in the summer transfer window, but Zubimendi opted to remain with Real Sociedad.
Despite the rejection, Liverpool continue to monitor the player, while Manchester City have also expressed interest.
According to Marca, Real Madrid are now keen on the midfielder, who has a €60million (£50million) release clause in his contract.
Los Blancos are in the market for midfield reinforcements following Toni Kroos’ announcement that he will retire at the end of the 2023/24 season.
Martin Zubimendi is reportedly one of several targets on their shortlist, which also includes Bruno Guimarães and Joshua Kimmich.
Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti’s side are preparing for their Champions League clash against Liverpool on Wednesday.
However, they will be without star forward Vinícius Jr., who is sidelined with an injury.
