Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of England striker Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth in a deal potentially worth up to £65 million.
The deal includes an initial payment of £55 million, with an additional £10 million in performance-related add-ons. Solanke, 26, has signed a contract with Spurs that runs until 2030.
Dominic Solanke, who has earned one cap for England, is Tottenham’s fourth acquisition of the summer, following the arrivals of Yang Min-hyuk, Lucas Bergvall, and Archie Gray.
Manager Ange Postecoglou has been keen to bolster his attacking options after England captain Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich last summer.
“What’s important is the type of striker we get,” Postecoglou said during Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Japan.
“You know we play a certain way.
“We demand certain things from a physical perspective from the technical aspects of it that it’s going be a striker that fits that mould.
“It’s still the area of the park we’re really probably the thinnest when I talk about squad-wise at the moment, so obviously that’s a focus for us.”
Tottenham forward Richarlison ruled out a summer move to the Saudi Pro League in an interview with ESPN Brasil on Thursday.
“The money is big but my dream is bigger,” said the Brazilian, who has three years remaining on his Spurs contract.
Solanke joined Bournemouth from Liverpool for £19 million in 2019.
Liverpool reportedly hold a 20% sell-on clause on any profit Bournemouth makes from Solanke’s sale.
The 2023-24 season was the most prolific of Solanke’s career, as he netted 21 goals in 42 appearances.
Tottenham have made two signings this summer: 18-year-old midfielders Archie Gray from Leeds United and Lucas Bergvall from Djurgården.
Additionally, they have agreed to sign South Korean winger Yang Min-hyuk, who will join the squad in January.
Solanke was not selected for England’s European Championship squad, with Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins chosen as back-ups to Harry Kane.
Tottenham will kick off their 2024-25 Premier League campaign with an away match against newly-promoted Leicester City on August 19.
