West Ham forward Michail Antonio discharged from hospital after horror car crash

The West Ham striker broke his leg in the incident, which took place in Essex

Michail Antonio has been discharged from hospital less than a month after suffering a serious car crash.

The West Ham striker broke his leg in the incident, which took place in Essex.

Antonio is understood to have spent Christmas Day in the hospital before returning home.

Unfortunately, he will not play again this season.

Antonio’s £260,000 2011 Ferrari FF was left severely damaged following the crash.

The incident occurred in Epping while Antonio was returning home from West Ham’s Rush Green training ground, where he had been preparing for the Premier League clash with Wolves.

The forward underwent surgery on his broken leg on the night of the crash, Saturday, December 7.

As a gesture of gratitude for the medical support he received, West Ham’s players and supporters have raised nearly £60,000 for the NHS and Air Ambulances UK Charity.

Before their emotional 2-1 home victory over Wolves, all of West Ham’s players wore shirts bearing Antonio’s name.

These shirts were later auctioned off, along with match-worn shirts.

The auction raised a total of £29,613, which was then matched by the club’s board, bringing the total amount raised to £59,226.

This sum will be divided between the two charities.

The shirt worn by West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen, who scored the winning goal, raised the most money, selling for £3,005.

“It’s been special to see the West Ham family and the wider football community come together in support of Mic over the last month,” Bown said.

“We are all grateful for the care that both the NHS and Air Ambulances UK have given to Mic during a challenging time for him and his family.

“And for what they continue to do every single day for people around the country.

“Pulling together during difficult times is what being a part of West Ham United is all about and on behalf of the team.

“I want to thank everyone for helping us to raise an incredible amount of money for two great causes.”
