Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool appear uncertain, as the club is reportedly unwilling to meet the defender’s wage demands.
The Reds have initiated contract talks with three of their star players – Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Alexander-Arnold – all of whom are in the final years of their current contracts.
According to The Sun, while discussions with Van Dijk have made progress, Alexander-Arnold is still far from agreeing to a new deal.
The report suggests that Liverpool are not willing to offer the right-back more than what Salah and Van Dijk currently earn, with the duo on weekly wages of £350,000 and £220,000, respectively.
Alexander-Arnold, who is currently earning £180,000 a week, has attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Should he decide to move to one of these European giants, he could potentially secure a much more lucrative offer than what Liverpool is prepared to offer.
Meanwhile, Salah is also in a similar position, with the Egyptian forward yet to commit to a new deal amid strong interest from Saudi Pro League clubs.
Salah is reportedly seeking a significant pay rise, which Liverpool will need to address if they want to keep their talismanic winger.
In light of this uncertainty, the Merseyside club has already started scouting potential replacements for Salah, with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush reportedly on their radar.
Liverpool, who have been in excellent form during the 2024-25 season, will next face Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday night in a league fixture.
