Arne Slot has responded to recent comments made by Mohamed Salah regarding his contract situation.
The Liverpool star caused a stir on social media after Sunday’s 3-2 win over Southampton, admitting he feels “more out than in” with his contract set to expire this summer.
Salah’s remarks have dominated discussions at Anfield ahead of Wednesday night’s crucial Champions League clash with Real Madrid and Sunday’s pivotal Premier League showdown against title rivals Manchester City.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Slot addressed the situation, saying: “I’ve said many times, I don’t share this [information]. If I look at my line-ups, Mo is more in than out!
“We want his numbers to be where they are. I don’t think he is distracted. I haven’t seen it. He is just fully focused on the game. These things are in the media and fans talk about it, but the players don’t. I don’t think there is any distraction for him or for the players.”
Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson also addressed the situation during the press conference, stating: “Honestly, for us as players it’s nothing we can get involved in.
“All I can say is you look at Mo today, yesterday, he is the ultimate professional. In fairness that goes for Trent and Virgil who are in similar positions.
“Every one of them is focused on the next game, they have been leaders this season.
“For us in the training room, if they can do that then we can do that.
“They are not being distracted by anything else.”
He added: “[Mo] doesn’t look sad to me. Mo comes into training every single day with a smile on his face, in the gym and training pitch working as hard as ever.
“He is one of the happiest people in the training ground. He looks happy at all times.
“He’s such a focused individual he’ll be at his house now focused on tomorrow night.
“That’s what the best players in the world do.”
