Barcelona out of the race as Bayern prepare new bid for Luis Diaz

While Barcelona had shown interest, a move to Spain now appears unlikely

Luis Diaz is set to stay away from Barcelona this summer, with Bayern Munich emerging as the frontrunner to sign the Liverpool forward.

The 28-year-old’s future remains a hot topic, as Diaz has reportedly made it clear he wants to leave the Reds.

While Barcelona had shown interest, a move to Spain now appears unlikely.

This is largely due to Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford nearing a season-long loan deal with Barcelona.

The Catalan club are reportedly willing to cover all of Rashford’s wages and has an option to make the transfer permanent next summer.

With Barcelona stepping back, Bayern Munich have become Diaz’s main suitor.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the German club are preparing to submit a new bid after their previous offer of around £59million was rejected last week.

Diaz is considered Bayern’s “top target” for reinforcing their attack. Lyon’s Malick Fofana is seen as a backup option, a player also linked with Liverpool.

Bayern missed out on signing Florian Wirtz earlier this summer, and with Jamal Musiala expected to be sidelined for several months due to a broken leg and dislocated ankle, the club urgently need a left-sided attacker.

The Saudi Pro League remains another realistic option for Diaz, but he is reportedly holding out for a move to Bayern, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.

“Luis Diaz has not only informed Liverpool of his desire to leave, but has now also made it clear to LFC that he would like to join FC Bayern if possible,” Plettenberg posted on X.
