England international Marc Guehi has reportedly identified Premier League leaders Liverpool as his preferred next destination and is prepared to bide his time to secure the move.
The 24-year-old joined Crystal Palace from Chelsea in 2021, following successful loan spells at Swansea City, and has since become a standout performer for the Eagles, amassing 133 appearances.
Guehi also made a significant impact for England at Euro 2024, stepping in for Harry Maguire and earning a spot in several Team of the Tournament lists.
This season, despite captaining a struggling Palace side under Oliver Glasner, Guehi has continued to impress, making 22 appearances across all competitions.
However, his actions off the pitch have garnered controversy, with the FA reprimanding him this month for defacing LGBT rainbow armbands in protest against the campaign.
According to The Sun, Marc Guehi has already made up his mind about his next career move, expressing a desire to join Liverpool when the time is right.
The centre-back is keen to play Champions League football and is willing to wait until the summer if necessary, rather than pushing for a transfer in the January window.
Guehi’s resolve was evident when Newcastle United made three bids for him last summer, all of which were rejected by Palace.
The defender showed little interest in leaving Selhurst Park at the time, preferring to stay put until the right opportunity arose.
With his contract set to expire in June 2026, Crystal Palace are aware that Guehi’s value will diminish as the end of his deal approaches.
Nevertheless, they will likely hold out for a significant fee for one of their star assets.
Whether Liverpool move for Guehi in January or wait until the summer remains to be seen, but the player’s intent to join the Anfield outfit appears clear.
