Liverpool’s trophy-winning experience sets them apart from Chelsea in this season’s Premier League title race, according to Enzo Maresca.
Despite his side’s strong start, Maresca has continued to downplay Chelsea’s title chances.
As the season reaches Christmas, the Premier League landscape looks vastly different from what many predicted before the campaign began.
Currently leading the pack are Liverpool and Chelsea, two teams under the guidance of new managers this season.
Arne Slot took charge at Liverpool, while Enzo Maresca stepped into the Chelsea role, both overseeing impressive turnarounds.
This fresh leadership has disrupted the usual hierarchy.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, long dominant in the league, have stumbled dramatically, dropping to seventh place after managing just one win in their last six Premier League games.
Meanwhile, last season’s runners-up, Arsenal, have struggled to capitalise on City’s decline, sitting in third place as the season approaches its midway point.
“It’s not about pressure,” Chelsea head coach Maresca said during his latest press conference.
“I would like to have that kind of pressure and hopefully we can have that pressure.
“The reality for me is we are not there.”
The Chelsea manager added: “I think, for sure, the reality is we are second.
“It’s almost halfway, so probably the table reflect the teams where they are. Liverpool are doing fantastic since the first day.
“Probably the [Liverpool] squad, they have already lived that kind of moment [to win a trophy]. I think you need to live that kind of moment to raise and be close.
“I think Manchester City at the end will be there. They are living something that probably never happened before.
“They have a new injury at the end of every game and it’s a very bad situation.”
