Liverpool are poised to return to Adidas kits next season after securing a deal with the German sportswear giant, reportedly worth over £60million per year.
This multi-year agreement will mark a record-breaking kit partnership for the Reds as their current contract with Nike expires this summer.
Liverpool have not worn Adidas kits for 13 years, following periods with Warrior, New Balance, and most recently, Nike.
While the exact length of the new deal is still under wraps, reports suggest it will be long-term.
Both Nike and Puma were in the running to renew or take over the deal, but Adidas has managed to land one of football’s most prestigious clubs.
Manchester United, who extended their own contract with Adidas last year, signed a £900 million agreement that runs for another decade.
The new deal includes a £15 million yearly increase, though financial penalties apply if the club fails to qualify for the Champions League.
It’s unclear whether Liverpool’s new deal with Adidas includes similar clauses.
The Reds’ current partnership with Nike, signed in 2020 after they clinched the Premier League title, is valued at around £30million annually as a base figure.
However, revenue-sharing agreements based on merchandise sales have typically boosted the overall value to approximately £50million per year.
Adidas, who already supply kits for Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, and Fulham, will add Liverpool to their impressive roster.
Meanwhile, Nike currently provides kits for Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Brighton and Hove Albion.
Losing Liverpool, one of the world’s most recognized football brands, will be a major setback for Nike.
For Adidas, this coup not only strengthens their presence in the Premier League but also helps offset the blow of losing the German national team’s kit contract to Nike.
