Liverpool told they could win multiple trophies if they sign Alexander Isak

The striker is currently in a standoff with Newcastle United, having made it clear he wants a move to Anfield this summer

Liverpool have been told they could dominate the honours this season if they succeed in their pursuit of Alexander Isak.

The striker is currently in a standoff with Newcastle United, having made it clear he wants a move to Anfield this summer.

Earlier this month, the Reds saw a £110million bid emphatically rejected by the Magpies and chose not to submit a second offer after being told the player was not for sale.

However, the situation has shifted dramatically, with Isak continuing to train away from Newcastle’s first team.

Reports earlier this week claim he has informed the club that he has no intention of ever playing for them again.

Liverpool remain interested in Isak but will not make another offer unless Newcastle soften their stance on keeping the forward.

Despite the uncertainty, the growing consensus among the football community is that the Sweden international could be a Liverpool player by the time the transfer window closes on September 1.

Former Millwall, Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest, and Portsmouth forward Teddy Sheringham believes Isak can have a huge impact at Anfield and would adapt well to Arne Slot’s style of play.

“Success for Isak is winning the treble for Liverpool and I think he can do that,” said Sheringham, who also had a spell at Manchester United, where he won the Premier League.

“I think he will get enough chances. He might have to change his game slightly because people play differently at Newcastle than they do when they go to Liverpool.”

Speaking to Snabbare, Sheringham added: “He will have to play with his back to goal a little bit more rather than running in behind but I think he can do everything as a player.

“The chances will come. He’s proven it at this level. He’s played in the Premier League. He can score goals against all the centre-halves that are out there. He will have no problem fitting into the Liverpool system for me.”
