Alexander Isak has reached a verbal agreement in principle with Liverpool over a long-term contract running until 2031, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.
The Swedish striker is keen to make the move to Anfield, with discussions between Liverpool and Newcastle United ongoing.
Isak’s proposed salary at Liverpool is expected to be in line with that of recent signing Hugo Ekitike.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are actively pursuing a deal for RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Šeško, though they face stiff competition from Manchester United, who remain firmly in the race.
Liverpool plan to make an initial offer of £100million ($134million).
While Newcastle currently value Isak at around £150million ($203million), Liverpool are confident they can negotiate the price down to approximately £120 million ($160million).
The Reds have the financial capability to sign another top striker following their blockbuster deal for Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Their financial flexibility was further boosted by the recent sale of Luis Diaz to German champions Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, Darwin Nunez could also be on the move after attracting strong interest from Italian champions Napoli as well as several Saudi Pro League clubs.
