Man United forward Alejandro Garnacho relishes chance to play alongside Lionel Messi

Alejandro Garnacho is eager to play alongside Lionel Messi as he looks to achieve World Cup glory with Argentina.
The young forward has already had the unique privilege of playing alongside two of the greatest players in football history – Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
While Garnacho has often expressed his admiration for Ronaldo, he is thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to team up with Messi in the Argentina squad.
Currently, Alejandro Garnacho and Messi are in the midst of a successful World Cup qualifying campaign.
Argentina sit five points clear at the top of the CONMEBOL qualification standings, with a chance to secure their spot in the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, as early as March.
The Manchester United forward is determined to play a key role in Argentina’s title defence, and he’ll be hoping that Messi, who will be 38 when the tournament begins, remains part of the squad.
“For me, playing for Argentina and with Messi is a dream,” Garnacho told FIFA.
“I have to keep working [and] try to play better and better. I was at the Copa America with all the team.
“I didn’t play too much but just being around these players and winning the Copa was an incredible moment. Hopefully, for the next World Cup, I will be ready to play, and we will try to win.”
Argentina can secure their World Cup place during the March qualifiers, where they will face Uruguay and Brazil.
For now, however, Garnacho’s focus is on helping his struggling Manchester United side.
The Red Devils are set to face Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League on Thursday.
