Mohamed Salah reportedly signs new contract with Liverpool

Salah’s current deal with the Reds is set to expire at the end of the season, which would make him a free agent

Former Egypt international Haytham Farouk has suggested that Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract with Liverpool.

Salah’s current deal with the Reds is set to expire at the end of the season, which would make him a free agent.

Just two weeks ago, the superstar attacker revealed that Liverpool’s hierarchy had yet to offer him a contract extension.

Despite the uncertainty, Salah has continued to deliver outstanding performances for Arne Slot’s team.

He provided an assist and scored a penalty against Manchester City, followed by another assist and two goals in Liverpool’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Newcastle.

These displays have intensified calls for the Reds to meet Salah’s demands for a new deal.

Pundits, including Jamie Carragher, have even reconsidered their previous stances, urging Liverpool to secure Salah’s future at Anfield.

It now appears that the club may have taken action. Farouk, a popular analyst on beIN Sports and a former defender, congratulated Salah on social media, hinting that the forward has agreed to new terms.

Sharing an old photo of himself with Mohamed Salah, Farouk wrote on X: “Congratulations on renewing your contract with the number you like and the period you want. The Egyptian king rules with his own judgments.”

Farouk’s tweet was posted on December 4, the same day Salah’s brace against Newcastle took him to 13 Premier League goals this season, keeping Liverpool at the top of the table.

Following the draw, manager Arne Slot also hinted at Salah’s continued commitment to the club, further fueling speculation that a deal has been reached.

“We are hoping and expecting he can continue this for a long time,” Slot said.

“He was outstanding in the second half, he did many special things for us.

“I have seen many games of last season but it is always difficult to judge a player if you are not there. What I did most was [look at] style of play and team performance and not that much the individual performance.

“What I noticed from the start, when he came in [in preseason was] how fit he was, how ready he was to make it a very good season for him. That he led by example from the first day onwards in preseason where so many of his teammates who he usually plays with.

“So the international players, were not there and to still be able to work that hard, he did, and train so hard: yeah, and then we all saw the quality in the training sessions. So it’s not a surprising thing for me that he’s done so well until now.”
